Whats an Optometrist?
An optometrist is a health care professional trained to prescribe and fit lenses to improve vision and to recognise and refer or manage certain eye diseases.  Previously known as Ophthalmic Opticians,  as opposed to Dispensing Opticians.

Which is blacker, red or green?
- We ask this to check the final balance or endpoint of your prescription and is the most commonly asked question by clients during the eye check!

Short Sighted or Myopic -  Distance objects are blurred and can see things close up.

Long sighted or Hyperopic - Can see things more easily far away and near things are blurred or cause eyestrain.

Astigmatism - The eye is not perfectly round, more rugby ball shaped and causes a distorted image and also strain.

Presbyopic or old eyes! - As we age we lose our eyes abilty to refocus far to near and it generally becomes an issue in our mid-forties. Simple reading glasses may well be required or maybe bifocals or varifocals.

Varifocals - Line free bifocals that allow you to see at all distances and so multi-task more easily.

Bifocals -  Bifocals are the traditional way of coping with distance and near tasks, but they do have a line. Some people like this, they know where they are, some dont as they consider it to be a sign of age!

Can I lose a contact lens behind my eye?  No! There is a physical barrier from about half way around the eye that prevents this.
